About Jen Marie

Picture
My love affair with writing started early. At the age of 7 year, I wrote my first novella, The Valentine Girl, and proudly taped it to my 2nd grade cubby. I’m still writing about love, but I’ve expanded my interests to include parenting, family, humor, health and style.

I have a degree in Advertising from the University of South Carolina and worked in public relations and advertising for eight years before my passion for books drew me back to teaching. After receiving a Master’s of Arts in Teaching, I taught English and writing before undertaking my next big adventure—parenthood!

Originally from Ohio, I am now a self-proclaimed “Sort-a-ner,” and have spent the second half of my life in the trifecta of beautiful southern cities including New Orleans, Charleston and Savannah.

My work has been published in Southern Coastal Weddings, Savannah Magazine, Mamalode, Literary Mama, Noteworthy, Publishous and PS I Love You. My short story, What He Carried, was also a 2018 semi-finalist for the William Faulkner Society Short Story Contest.

You can usually find me at home with my husband, three boys and rescue dog, Scout. Currently, I’m working on several projects including a humorous gift book for brides and a cozy southern mystery set at a beach wedding.
